David E. Butler

David E. Butler is a lifelong resident of the Southern Tier. He received his B.A. from the University of Rochester in 1989 and later received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1995 from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing Michigan.

As a practicing trial attorney with over 25 years of courtroom experience in both State and Federal Court, Mr. Butler has focused his practice predominantly on criminal defense and civil litigation. Widely known for his abilities in the courtroom, he has successfully handled many high profile criminal cases in his career, including state murder cases and a federal capital murder case.

He is equally adept at handling complex litigation, personal injury and medical malpractice matters as well, with millions recovered on behalf of clients. In one particular matter he obtained what is thought to be the largest medical malpractice settlement ever reached in Broome County. He is a past recipient of the New State Pro Bono Award for his dedication to assisting indigent clients obtain divorces.
He currently resides in Apalachin, New York.
